Linden chosen as site for Murphey Western Institute



I was a big fan of this guy back when he was a rocker. I am not as interested in his Old West preservation act, although it is a worthy pursuit. It is a real coup for Linden to beat out Aspen and Taos for this. I guess Murphey figured more people would visit if it were located in the flatlands, although this is certainly not classic "Old West" territory.

The kind of pine trees you see in Westerns are Ponderosas, not Loblollies.
