SMU lecturer takes heat for telling blog

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/3201823

As a friend of my mom used to say, "Oh, how funny." It saved her from having to engage in the guttural exertion of actual cachinnation. And if she didn't think something was funny, it saved her from having to force laughter. I think this is pretty funny, though. You have to say "Oh, how funny" to keep from ROFL.

Texarkana on front line of base-closings issue

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/3201737

This is pathetic. Move on, Texarkana. You're just embarrassing me with your groveling.

Rumors are that bases need to be closed so they can be transformed into internment camps. See, now that so many people do not have health insurance, there are way too many interns being graduated from our medical schools and we've got to put 'em down.

Or something like that.

The Voice of the White House

http://www.tbrnews.org/Archives/a1611.htm

"Amazingly, many fanatic Christians are stone perverts and anything goes with them. Whipping your ten year old daughter’s ass with a belt, dressing up in women’s clothes and cruising Lafayette Park looking for randy sailors and so on. The Democrats are intellectually fuzzy but the Republicans are much more prone to savagery and perverse behavior. I saw an article on the web that said the White House was run by a gang of perverts. It certainly is."

Open meetings are sacrosanct everywhere but Washington, D.C.

http://www.tylerpaper.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14591468&BRD=1994&PAG=461&dept_id=226369&rfi=6

Don't know about Noll, but Moore ought to enlist the
White House in his defense. The U.S. government now
operates in total secrecy and gets away with it.

For instance, we still don't know, with respect to the
Energy Task Force, who was meeting with Cheney and
what they were discussing in early 2001, although a
pretty good guess would be they were discussing how to
divide up the spoils after the Iraqi invasion they
were planning for two years later. Unfortunately, the
spoils are still up for grabs even two years after the
invasion.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld Cheney's right
to keep everything secret. Moore just has to figure
out some way to get New Diana board meetings
classified as being related to "national security."

Watch where you point that camera

http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0523/p11s01-ussc.html

I think it's real funny that all this Patriot Act and Homeland Security nonsense came down at the exact same time millions are acquiring cell phones with the capability of taking digital photos.

Evangelicals rethink their public face

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7911488/

Why do I think this has something to do with the Shrub being at 43 percent approval rating, an all-time low for someone this early in his second term?

The SBC has promoted this man for the last five years as a man who is seated in the heavenlies next to Jesus and the Father.

I am thinking of the time on The Tonight Show when Ed McMahon used to do live Alpo commercials and one night the dog turned up his nose at the "100 percent meat and meat by-products" delicacy placed in the bowl before him.

Bush is that bowl and the American people are the collective dog.

'Israel comes first'

http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index746.htm

Sorcha Faal's late brother was a Russia special forces soldier. She is sadly right about Americans now being hardened to the crimes continually committed all over the world in their name and under Israeli orders. It's like Israel has taken over the world (or is trying to through its control of our government) and is saying, "This time we will get Nazism right!"

Unexpected repair

For at least a year, I have had a TEAC DC-D2831 Digital Compact Hi-Fi System in my bedroom which I thought had died. Its light-emitting diode still glowed, but it didn't seem to be on. I couldn't produce any decibels from it no matter which button I pushed.

I had pulled the plug on it last summer. Today I plugged it back in and it still seemingly didn't work. I really wasn't surprised since I ordered it as a factory refurbished unit from the Heartland catalog.

I went to the TEAC America consumer electronics site to see where the closest authorized service center was. It's 160 miles away in Waco. Damn, I thought. This unit is just going to sit here in disrepair until Jesus comes to heal it.

As a last resort, I then took a No. 2 pencil and pushed a button called "Reset" on the back of the unit.

"Viola!" as the female county agent here used to spell the French term roughly synonymous with proclaiming "Eureka!"

For the last two hours I have been listening to a CD of the greatest hits of "Spanky and Our Gang" and a greatest hits cassette of The Cowsills. The unit even has an old-fashioned vinyl record turntable on top.

I suppose Jesus just wanted me to hit "Reset." I live one day at a time and it's a good idea to hit "Reset" first thing in the morning.

Galloway vs. The US Senate: Transcript of Statement

http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0517-35.htm

One of the stories the neocons try to keep going is the supposed corruption found in the UN 'oil-for-food' program.

Why a government which has 'lost' $8 billion in Iraq in just the last couple of year wants to remind people of corruption or even that the term exists in the dictionary is beyond me.

Also, there more than $1 trillion unaccounted-for in Pentagon appropriations over the last 10 or 15 years.

It's little things like this wihch are why they are working so furiously to cut the remaining strands of the "social safety net." They stole all the money which might have funded such programs. They just stole another $500 billion to fund this year's Pentagon budget plus the cost overruns of the Iraq fiasco.

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/story.jsp?story=638525

I am wondering how many years this can go on before someone asks questions. The price tag for the two wars started since Cheney staged 9-11 is approaching $300 billion.

I am thinking with America's 'Diebolded' rigged elections, at least another 10 years. The economy will sort of collapse before then, but no one will link it to this fiasco.

I didn't leave the Baptists ... they left me

http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=20782

How did I ever wind up in that strange, twisted denomination to begin with? The church is still here. But it's not political. The Jews asked Jesus to turn political and he wouldn't. I won't say what that makes the Southern Baptists these days, but it's not good.

From Baghdad to Brasilia

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/GE12Ak02.html

Looks like the whiteys in the White House are just going to have to nuke the entire Southern Hemisphere and start over. Reboot the world, so to speak.

You DO know Condoleezza Rice is Caucasian, don't you? She has had a dark brown body cast complete with negroid features applied to her actual body so she could be the token black of the administration. But the other dark-skinned peoples of the world have been able to see right through it.

Iraqi police vent anger at US after car bombings

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200505/s1364588.htm

Good things our soldiers don't know Arabic or they would have murdered all the police on the spot. Can this whole operation get any more FUBAR? Probably it can. I have never been an optimist when it comes to the infinite stupidity of warmongers.

Jim Lampley: The biggest story of our lives

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/2005/05/biggest-story-of-our-live.html

Couple this with a quote from the letter of President Eisenhower:

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Their number is no longer negligible, but they are still stupid. However, even many of the terminally stupid have had moments of extreme dyspepsia as their god in the Black House has been riffing on Social Security. Rigged elections will continue to be the easiest explanation for what is happening. In 2006, the GOP will INCREASE its majorities in both houses, thanks to no-paper-trail, unverifiable Black Box Voting.

The Abu Ghraib soap opera continues

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/10/national/10graner.html?ei=5094&en=3219fed0e3bb81c9&hp=&ex=1115784000&partner=homepage&pagewanted=print

I am going to refrain from putting up the latest photo of Lynndie England here.

Well, at least they didn't let gays into the military. Can you imagine the damage to what Gen. Powell used to call "good order and discipline" and "unit cohesion" if that had been allowed to happen?

Maybe my standards are too high, but the sight of Lynndie England is enough to induce blindness. If I have to look at her too much longer, I will be as blind as that horse Dubya was "milking" at the ranch.

Personal and confidential: To Edgar Newton Eisenhower, 8 November 1954

http://www.eisenhowermemorial.org/presidential-papers/first-term/documents/1147.cfm

Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas, but he never claimed to be a Texan. This letter with its derogatory reference to Hunt and the Texas oil millionaires may explain why. A few years later as he left office he warned us of the influence of the military-industrial complex, also centered in Texas with overlapping connnections to the oil industry.

Within five years, his prophecy began coming true with a vengeance in the jungles of Southeast Asia.

I am convinced that most of the bloodshed of the past 50 years can be blamed on Texans.

George W. (Wolf in Sheep's Clothing) Bush

http://www.awakeninthedream.com/bushsupporters.html

The Madness of George W. Bush

OM Shanti! (whatever that means)

As we honor our mothers and the beautiful female angels given to us to guide us ~ along our way  ~on this her ~Special Day~.

Let us take a moment and Awaken the Divine Mother within us.

See her as she Is
Filled with the Light of Love

See her embracing the pain of the Warrior who is so lost
within us all

See her healing our Inner fear which is the maker of wars in all its noble disguises.

See her Cleaning our wounds of Self denial with her Holy tears -

See her encouraging us to walk as the Mighty Children that She Loves more that Life itself.

Let not another moment keep the Love of the Mother buried within us - Raise her from her Grave and let Live the Life of the Eternal Path of Love through us her children -

As we bring  her back - We are Trusting in her care - Allowing her to Heal our world  =

Honor her and Let this be a moment of rebirth as we all accept the Love that Only She can Give.

As we open our Minds and our Hearts to this Divine Principle that resides in each and every one of us - We can be certain that individually as well collectively we will see a new day - In which the darkness no longer threatens our world  -  Where this place we call Home becomes a Place of Peace and of Oneness for all the world to share.

In gratitude I say: "Thank You Mother God"

Richest Blessings!
OM Shanti!
Awaken
Love Deeply!

Gregg Braden

I heard Gregg Braden last night on Art Bell's show. Actually, it was a repeat from a week ago. You can hear an Art Bell reprise on a number of AM stations from 8 p.m. to midnight Central Time.

There's an FM station at 103.1, KDVE, whose transmitter is only eight miles north of here which has switched to a talk format, so now it's like listening on XM. Anyone from Texarkana to Palestine or from Paris to nearly as far south as Nacogdoches can get this signal.

Gregg said that even the name of God may well be encoded in our DNA. He lives in Santa Fe. He is more a New Ager. So he is more optimistic, although cautiously so, about the earth's future than the fundamentalists around here, who are sort of looking forward to the whole "end of the world" Armageddon scenario.

WOMAN STRUCK BY CAR IN FRONT YARD

http://www.tylerpaper.com/site/news.cfm?BRD=1994&dept_id=341384&newsid=14488818&PAG=461&rfi=9

It has been almost 18 months to the day since I was struck by an SUV. It was Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003. I wasn't in my yard, but the vehicle did run off the road into me. So there is some similarity. However, she was a lot closer to the hospital than I was. I wonder why they lifeflighted her to Mother Frances instead of ETMC. ETMC has a higher level of care for trauma victims.

My first thought is that this woman is bound to be in better shape than I was because she got hit by a Volvo. Hell, I would have totaled a Volvo. As it was, the Chevrolet Suburban which ran me over was undrivable afterward.

I admit that it was more the street sign which caused that than my "man of steel" physique, but I contributed in some small way to her immobility. Let's put it this way. I was still moving all my extremities after breaking 15 to 20 bones and having a lung collapse. I still knew who I was and whom to call in an emergency (and that was not always the case on some of my harder-drinking days 20 years ago).

IMPEACHMENT TIME

http://www.gregpalast.com/printerfriendly.cfm?artid=426

So who didn't know Bush lied us into the war by now? I like Greg Palast, but I wonder what he's been smoking to think that the Republican Congress will now impeach Bush just because the latter committed the nation to a premeditated war crime.

Republicans do not mind lying to get the public behind premeditated war crimes, especially wars to capture oil reserves. And at least half the public is still not at the point where they will admit they were brazenly and repeatedly lied to.

In a few minutes, it will be 5:05 on the fifth day of the week on the fifth day of the month of the year 2005. This sort of confluence of fives only occurs once every 7,000 years. Of course, as I think about it, the more significant confluence was 12 hours ago when it was the fifth minute of the fifth hour.

Low-Salt Diet May Harm Heart, Study Says

http://www.rednova.com/news/display/?id=147328&source=r_health

This, added to the earlier study about the health benefits of drinking coffee, is really good news for me. I think it is almost impossible to consume fewer than 2,400 milligrams of salt a day. Just look at how much salt is in every packaged product you buy. You'd have to shop exclusively at Whole Foods (nearest one to me is 120 miles away) to even have a shot.

Is Bush the Antichrist?

http://www.seattleweekly.com/features/0449/041208_news_antichrist.php

My "Augustine" was a pastor named David Jenkins. Though a Baptist (who has, sadly, supported the criminal war juggernaut of recent years), he warned me about Revelation and how many people that book has led astray. What is interesting is that his wife is a big fan of the "Left Behind" series of books, proving how little influence even pastors of patriarchal denominations have over their "helpmates."

Another fact of which many are unaware is that the so-called "Apocrypha" of the Holy Bible were included in the original King James Version. It is the Puritans who excluded them. I had never read the Apocrypha until I found an old family Bible with them a few years ago.

Whenever anyone tells you, "I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible," you should ask, "Which one?"

They may answer, "The one the Lord Jesus Christ dictated to former Texas Gov. Miriam "Ma" Ferguson on the grounds of the State Capitol in Austin."

Wild hogs making pigs of themselves in field and forest

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/3160896

Go back to Arkansas, little piggies. Wild hogs just 'boar' me. I'd much rather have their black bears or ivory-billed woodpeckers.

It's interesting to see eagles becoming commonplace. We are still looking for the return of the black bears to East Texas in a big way.

Christian Fearthink

How to create a society thankful for having a military that pulls the trigger when the enemy produces a water pistol?

Answer: Start them at an early age to understand the abstract concepts behind paranoia. Ruin them early with the idea that Satan is a foreigner with notions of burning and sodimizing forever if jr. doesn't go with the program. Instill the idea that Christians are the "chosen", worthy of Heaven, and therefore, all other godless creatures are the devils creations. Racism is a must. Without racism, there is no "us" vs. "them". Now, keep drilling into this Jesushead that the enemy is waiting to attack at all times, and, voila, you have the stinking cesspool of a society that exists in America today.
Thank you and God bless.

I saw the above on the Democratic Underground today. I couldn't have said it better myself.
